This book is a sequel from the the book charlie and the chocolate factory. If you have read Charlie and the chocolate factory you have to read this book.

After that Charlie and his family went to live in the factory, mister wonka wanted to show them his glass elevator. The glass elevator was not just a normal elevator, it was a special elevator.

You can go to the space with it. There are so many adventures in space with Shakie after that there happens so many things.

This book is written especially for kids from 6 years. So i thought it was a bit childish. But I liked the way the book was told from all the main characters. The main character is Sjakie Stevens, further there are the parents of Sjakie, he’s grandparents. And of course Willie Wonka the boss of the chocolate factory. The chocolate gnomes, those are the helpers of Wonka. In other words the oempa loempa’s. The illustrations made the book easier to read. Some pictures were really funny. The idea of people ho make a trip to space in a elevator is not unknown. It’s used in Abeltje, a book from 1953 from Annie M.G. Schmidt. At first it the book was from the USA. Two years later the Dutch translate from Harriët Freezer came out. Never there came a filming of this book. Rohald Dahl was disappointed about Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. So he refused to give permission food further filming.

The book is most of all written in the glass elevator, which I found a little boring. In space there happened a lot which I found nicer. There are really weird things happening and that’s also what I liked about the book. It is so fantasy-like that is what i think was really funny. I think this book is so fun for kids. It’s unbelievable how you can go to space with a elevator. But in this book it happens. I give this book a 6 because it was fun for once but not the best book ever
